T1 arrives at EWC carrying the weight of a disappointing MSI exit — eliminated 3-1 by G2 with Doran getting completely dominated by BrokenBlade in the top lane. The questions around this roster are real and the confidence isn’t where it was at the start of the split.
But GAM Esports is a different level of opponent than G2. The VCS representative has shown they can compete in international settings with aggressive, unpredictable early game styles — but T1’s individual talent gap, even at less than 100%, is too significant for a single game.
The BO1 Factor
GAM’s best weapon in a BO1 is chaos — early invades, unusual picks, playing a style T1 hasn’t prepared for specifically. If GAM can disorient T1’s early game plan and create snowball conditions before Faker and Keria stabilize, this gets interesting. But “interesting” in a BO1 still gives T1 a significant edge.
Faker under pressure in a reset environment historically performs — EWC is a fresh tournament, a clean slate, and T1 will be motivated to prove the MSI result was a blip rather than a statement.
The Pick
Doran’s struggles are concerning but one player’s bad tournament doesn’t sink T1 against a VCS team in a single game. T1’s ceiling remains higher than GAM’s even on a bad day.
